Love is Family

storytelling

A weekend full of storytelling accompanied by music, dance and comedy.

With this year's theme Love, we explore love in all its facets. Portraying it’s romance, warm family love, and the dark sides of love. Celebrating that love is love, and the power of love to bring about change. We will be joined by storyteller and comedian Soula Notos to guide us through three days filled with stories as our host extraordinaire. As we see every night as a package experience curated with love for a full night of stories, we sell only daytickets. The language of all performances and shows is English.

16:00 | David Labi - Parental Storytelling Workshop

Alongside the program is offered David Labi’s ”Parental Storytelling Workshop“ 16:00-18:00h, for participants to process family stories with creativity and joy.

Today we share stories around the love we find, lose and take pride in and celebrate with in our families. A rich night depicting three personal stories in which love takes on different forms, for love can be bright as well cover us in darkness and grief.

When Meysamis a small boy, his sister dies in a house fire. At least, that’s what he’stold. But he has other memories stashed away which no one will explain: Heremembers the anguished confession of a young guy in a prison cell. Talks of aninternational arrest and the hanging of four men in the village square. Nowthat he’s an adult, and most of his family is gone, will those who remain tellthe truth which has been hidden from him?

The Chordis an Iranian family tragedy and murder mystery. It tells the story of women’sresilience and the societal bonds which test it to the limit.

21:20 | Soula Notos - Where you are

Soula will tell a story partly based on her solo Gurbet – or how I became rich. It is an ode to her parents and many like them who left their homeland for work in the unknown. An ode to the hands of Soula's mother and the most beautiful view in the world. Tracing back the languages and caresses that make you who you are. Intimate and critical explorations with humor, movement and temperament.

22:00 | David Labi - Pieces of a Man

A father. A son. Some baggage.

David’s father was a Libyan Jew who survived the Nazi concentration camps as a child. Larger than life, he went on through business boom and bust, casinos and shady deals, a bomb attack, and more – hauling his loved ones on his wild rollercoaster of a life. Now David’s having a midlife crisis. He longs to grow up, but his macho dad keeps getting in the way. In Pieces of a Man, David brings us on a hilarious and transformational journey to find his dead father, and live on.
